The year in books :: November

It's been a strange couple of months. It's been a busy time so my reading has suffered, or so I thought.  Too tired at the end of the day to muster any enthusiasm for fiction I've been reading through my recipe books or a magazine. I surprised myself with the number titles I looked at. Craft books (gaining more inspiration and adding to the ever lengthening list of potential makes) and food books (the new Nigella, to name one)  have been the staple (as well the numerous children's stories/school books I've read/listened to) until recently...
I charged my kindle and found a book had been delivered that I was waiting for....in fact now we're into November there's another waiting.
So, I'm currently reading Robert Galbraith - Career of Evil. It's the third in the series with Cormoran Strike at the centre and so far, so good. Still to come in November is one of my favourite authors, Ian Rankin. He has a new Rebus book out now and waiting for me on my kindle (along with loads of others!!)...so that'll be November I think. Here's hoping I can keep up with the reading...

  1. Hey N,
I really enjoyed the first two Cormoron Strike books, but daren't download this one until I get rid of my Kindle back log. I really like Nigella's new cookery book, and I giggled out loud quite a number of times at the tv programme. I think she's sticking a giant rude finger up to her ex. Good for her.

  3. I have Nigella's new book on hold at the library but I'm so far down on the list, it will be several more months before I have a chance to read it. I'm trying to be patient but I really want to read it.

  4. I read cookery books like novels. cover to cover and over and over again. I read a book of my teenagers on Monday and it was the first real book I'd read for months. and I wondered why I don't do it more often.......

  5. I think I am going to download the Cormoran Strike book for my audio. I have been fiction free for nearly ten days because I am paralysed by the choices I can't make.... x

  7. I've had a lackluster year in reading too - only 13 book :(
No Ian Rankins either. I really enjoy the Rebus book as well.

  8. I haven't come across the Cormorant strike books, so thanks for the tip.
Reading takes a back seat here when I'm busy, and instead of a novel I'll read magazines or cookery books in bed. But I always turn to crime fiction when I need something soothing but entertaining (not sure what that says about me!) and am currently re-reading Agatha Christies. x
